Tamarack™ Habilitation Technologies, Minneapolis, MN announces the latest addition to its line of friction management products – glidefree™ transfer board strips. In 1998, Tamarack introduced ShearBan® friction relieving sheets in the orthotic/prosthetic market. Six years later, ENGO® Blister Prevention Patches were launched in the consumer market, targeting athletes who suffer persistent rubbing & blister issues with their footwear.
glidefree™ strips are intended for people who use sliding “transfer” boards, ensuring that skin glides smoothly across the surface regardless of board type (wood, plastic, composite) or presence of moisture.
The Friction Factor…
Skin trauma, including hot spots, blisters and calluses, develop from a combination of heat, friction and moisture. Friction management interfaces, including ShearBan®, ENGO® and glidefree™ create a low-friction surface for the skin to slide, effectively managing friction forces that typically cause hot spots, blisters and other skin damage. With friction management, the skin slides freely in areas where the low-friction interface was applied – such as an ankle-foot orthosis, athletic footwear or transfer board.
A Package of five glidefree™ strips retails for $20 and is available from Tamarack.
