Helmet Headaches – Wearing a Helmet Can Cause Pain, Red Mark on Forehead Typically, or a Rash - Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, Inc.

Helmets can create points of pressure and shear loading on the head. The head doesn’t have a lot of fat for padding. Especially for those of us (like me) who have oddly shaped heads – mine is long and narrow – prolonged helmet wearing can be uncomfortable and even cause headaches. This is especially true for workers who have to wear helmets on the job. There has even been a study on this: “Helmet-Related, External Compression Headache Among Police Officers in Rio de Janeiro.”

We know that football players are increasingly applying Engo to the inside of their helmets – especially on the forehead pads – to relieve shear loading. An earlier post of ours discusses how the NFL Buffalo Bills football team uses ENGO® to prevent discomfort from helmets.
