If you’re interested in reading a new viewpoint on the cause and treatment options for friction blisters and other skin trauma, check out the latest issue of Access Press
– Minnesota’s Disability Community Newspaper (Volume 20, Number 7. July 10, 2009)
In this issue, Catherine Lussenhop, a summer intern at Tamarack Habilitation Technologies and student at Cornell University, shares her understanding of friction trauma. Catherine points out that although pressure is a component of skin wound development, pressure management fails to account for the side-to-side rubbing or “friction”, that also needs to be addressed in order to properly support healthy skin integrity.
